Designed to be held. These procedurally generated doubled walled mugs are printed directly in stoneware, with a small special edition done in wood-fired porcelain.
The integrated air gap between the interior vessel and the exterior form insulate your coffee to stay warm and keep your hands safe without the need for a handle. The forms, toolpaths and machine code are all generated in custom integrated algorithms and printed on a custom designed paste extrusion printer.
This project was a deep dive into the ideas of new craft. What does automation in craft practice look like, and what can it do better than traditional methods of ceramic manufacturing.
