A solid oak and natural fisheye cane easy chair, designed to add a living room lounger to an already popular collection of dining chairs and benches.
The initial product concept drawing was done by a senior product design manager, as an industrial designer I took over the project to make drawings and bring it through development.
I took this concept from a rough photoshop concept render and built out the model, joinery and refined the proportions and comfort. I then did the technical drawings and specifications for the initial prototype.
After the product designer went on leave I took over the project fully, the original concept was for a version with arms, however the business needs changed shortly before the prototyping stage so I redesigned the chair to an armless living room offering. I then followed the chair through development speccing materials, finish, comfort and colours.
